To begin with, we went to the Linn Creek Park and followed a fantastic creek through the snow. We had one epic snowball battle, I lost of course. There was slipping and sliding in snow, several face plants and lots of snow throwing into the creek. Super fun! But then, it was on to the abandoned.
Memorable sites: This cool, creepy house that I was terrified to enter since it looked like someone had to have been murdered within those walls.
Across the way, these grand entrance pillars that had to have been part of some wonderfully grand estate since 1. they were wonderfully built and 2. there was a road that was after them but it was never cleared, had two and half feet of snow on it and went on forever. Oh how I wish we could have taken that path.
Another great site was a Fed Ex truck dump. Yep, about 10 trucks in all states of decay, just hanging out in the snow.
We saw wonderfully packed buses, one reminding me of the Magic Bus from the book Into The Wild.
Finally, we found an abandoned farm, barns leaning and falling, some machinery still present.
And although we did not find what we had come for, there was lots of laughs, lots of sing alongs and lots of adventure. I will have to get back on my game, I suppose. Until then, enjoy these shots.
