The first stop, when I put it into the GPS, was not at all what I had expected. I guess, Brownsville, PA has 2 abandoned hospitals. The first one we went to was not that exciting. And, it did not look at all like the images online. So a little Interweb sleuthing got us to the right spot. And my oh my oh me oh my, this was awesome. The first building was amazing. I am not sure what it was, maybe an annex to the hospital. We got right in the side. No haunts, but I did get the fright of my life. As I walked in alone, climbing through this broken down door, up these steps into this decayed room, out of NOWHERE, I hear a loud, "Hey, there!!" I look to my right and there are two guys there, just standing there. I literally jumped at least three feet and almost crapped myself. However, it ended up being two guys, just like us, checking this out. We chatted, they told us about the upper floors, basement and the roof and we bid our farewells.
We wove our way around hospital furniture, gurneys and laundry carts, into and out of rooms, just checking things out. We saw beds made with sheets, blankets and pillows still stacked in closets and an office littered with papers and files. It was amazing.
Little girl and I decided to try out the location across the street, the actual hospital. Soon to be Birthday Boy went up, up, up. He did not try the roof for fear of stepping through a spot, but he did make it up to the third floor. We got a great shot of him looking out towards the hospital. He said ti was cool up there, much like that we saw on the base floor and probably a meth addicts luxury condo.
We, on the other hand decided to venture up lots of steps and into what was once a beautiful facility and was now slightly better than falling completely down. I think I would have ventured a little higher and a little further, but with the Little Lady it was way too dangerous to go much further than the first couple rooms. The ceiling was fallen down, bricks everywhere, debris was just all over the place. I did go into a couple rooms solo, to see the loneliness of the abandoned rooms. Fascinating!!!
We met up with our new friends while exiting. We compared notes, places to go and have been and then we left. We had a couple other spots in mind, but the rain decided to play games with us so while hiking to see some coke ovens, it began a hard rain. We were told the site was hard to find anyway, so we were okay with our only location. We did find amazingly HUGE leaves and a small abandoned building with all these carvings in the brickwork. I am posting them, so if you know anything about them, please comment or message me. And if you don't, just enjoy what we saw. But do this, imagine it darker, creepier and drearier than you see. That is what we experienced. Perfect way to kick off Halloween Birthday week. BOO!!!!
