This morning, we were craving the good deli we can only get in Cleveland, so we piled into the car and headed to Jack's. After lunch, we decided to drive into the city center to see what was going on. We found a treasure trove of the abandoned. Our first find was the Richman Brothers Company building. Though we were unable to get anywhere close to the inside of this building, we did very close to the front and all around the sides. It was quite massive with so many windows. Got some nice shots on the breezy beautiful day.
After we left there, we found a great spot about 15 minutes from there. I am really not sure where we were, but it was the Clothcraft Clothing Company. It was abandoned and it was super cool. We ended up meeting up with some other abandoneers who were doing the same thing as we were. They kind of tols us a way to sneak into the place. SO, we rounded the corner and we parked the car and we headed in. It was amazing. We saw some seriously cool stuff. There was nothing left in terms of machinery except the very large boilers and all the piping and metal mechanisms. We went up a couple flights of steps and saw the open space that was probably the home to all the machines that sewed the clothing. The wood floor was broken up and exposed an additional layer of hard wood. It was beautiful. Every floor had little nooks and crannies, small offices and even ramps. We traveled the whole building, checking it all out. We were in heaven. We ran into our new friends a couple of times and then after about an hour inside, we bid them farewell and left. However, as we left, we were met by four of Cleveland's finest. Yes, someone in the area had called the police on us. we were trespassing, as we sometimes are, so it was not as if we were at all in the right. A little check of Big Man's ID and, thank goodness, lack of record, answered a few questions about why we were there, and amidst my slight hyperventilation, Little Girl getting nervous and crawling up to the front, we were given a VERY STERN warning, and we were on our way home. No more stops ...for the day...and especially not in Cleveland. We are always really lucky about getting in, and out, without anything happening, but this time, we were really, really, really lucky. We did not get in trouble, we did not get a fine, we were not arrested and we saw one of the coolest spots yet. PS, my heart is still beating super fast!! Whoops!!!
