So, it is hot here, really hot. In addition, it has not stopped raining. So, when our initial plans yesterday were halted due to the rain storms, today was a must do day. The man of the house was all against us doing the adventure we had originally planned, so you will have to stay tuned for that in a few weeks. He had to work, so I decided to take little girl and a neighbor to Falls Run Waterfalls again. Why this place, yet again? Well simply because of the amount of rain we just had. There had to be a different experience there with all that water. And that was certainly the truth.
The creek was so swollen and the falls were strong, loud, alive and almost a little overwhelming from the top. It was super exciting. However, the best part was watching my little shadow become not my shadow. Exploring with another child really brought out another side of her. No longer following me the whole time and waiting for my lead, she was more free, open, outgoing and quite frankly brave. Believe me, she is absolutely no chicken, but with a friend as a sidekick she was no longer the adventure princess, but an adventure QUEEN. She jumped high off rocks, made splashes like a cannonball, she fell, she slipped, she was literally covered head to toe in mud, and was so happy. This made me so happy. She brings me so much joy and I know the adventures we do together as a family brings us all joy, but this one was extra special. She shared her previous expertise with her friend and really blossomed. Maybe it is the fact that soon she will be a Kindergartener, or maybe I am just seeing new things in her each day. Maybe it is both. Whatever the case, today was super fun and when we got home, hosed off the excessive mud and checked for ticks, this little wet, curly haired beast crawled on my lap and said, "You are the best mom this kid could ever ask for." That is definitely one of the best compliments this mom could ever wish for in a lifetime.
End note: We travel south for a few weeks, so I hope the adventures follow. Stay tuned!!!!
