The past few months have not been the most successful when going to find abandon locations. We really haven't been out much, and that is because my dad has been pretty sick, and the weekends have been spent catching up on tasks around the house and going to visit him. However, we have heard time and time again about this China factory that is a long abandoned in New Castle, Pennsylvania, and so after a short visit with my dad, we decided to New Castle, Pennsylvania we go.
After a very short drive, that was quite pleasant since little girl was sleeping in the back we arrived in New Castle. We did a couple laps around the building to see if we could find a way in, even though a friend of ours had told us a very simple route to get in. We decided on following the train tracks and the abandoned train cars that were there until we found a break in the fence. We walked right in. Doors were wide open. And it was simply amazing. The first thing I noticed was the fact that the roof was missing from many locations in the building. And since there has been rain , that cold damp chill was in the air, and the drip drip drip that exists in a hollow empty building could be heard throughout. We walked in and were just awed at some of the things we saw. Just to give you a couple highlights, the first thing we saw was stacks and stacks of paperwork and books that must have been used to run this factory. Then we saw this shelving that was these beautiful wood crates that were absolutely exquisite. They were just lined up crate after crate after crate and what I wouldn't do to have those lining one of my walls in my living room. That would be a great thing to have for storage of toys. Then right past that where the ovens. These were two very very very long white brick structure is built in the middle of a factory. I went to one end and was able to look in, and due to how dark it was, and a little bit if you're not going in by myself, I could not see all the way through. It was been adapted I realize that I had no idea where my husband and my daughter were. I did little call out for them and I saw a hand raised. When I walked over my first question indicated the fact that I was a little disappointed that we hadn't seen any China, because all of the pictures I've seen of this factory there is a lot of China that still left there. My husband had a huge grin on his face. And as he led me through this very cramped dark dingy area, it opened up to a menagerie of China. There were crates and shelves full of China stacked perfectly. There were plates and saucers and bowls. You name it it was there. And then across the way were all the little mugs cups whatever you call them. It was truly a sight. We took a couple pictures of course and then upon seeing everything that we could possibly want to see, we decided it was time to go. And with a speedy, very easy exit we walked out we hop the trains and we went home. It's been a while, and the wait was well worth it. Stay tuned for more!
